At the end of your term, you can simply close your existing lease, then choose your next device and start a new lease. The new lease starts when the new device ships or is picked up at an Apple Store. Once you have your new device, transfer your data and return your current device to Apple in good working condition.
-
You’ll be eligible to upgrade to a new device once you’ve completed all your monthly payments, according to your lease agreement. For example, if you chose a 24-month lease term when you enrolled in Apple Upgrade, you can upgrade to a new device once you’ve made 24 monthly payments.
If you’d like, you can also upgrade earlier by paying the remaining amount of your monthly lease payments plus applicable taxes. Check your status
-
Yes, you can still upgrade. But if you don't have AppleCare coverage and your device is not returned in good working condition, Klarna will charge you a one-time damage fee. You can repair your device back to good working condition before you return it to avoid this fee.
If your device is damaged and you have an AppleCare plan, you will be charged a service fee after it is received and assessed for damage. For additional information on fees, learn more about AppleCare coverage.
-
You’ll need to return your current device back to Apple within 14 days of receiving your new one. If your device isn’t returned within this timeframe, you’ll continue to be charged for your original lease according to the lease terms, in addition to the monthly payments for your new leased device.
-
Once you upgrade, we’ll send you a prepaid kit to return your current device through the mail, or you can drop it off at an Apple Store.
-
When you’re ready to return your leased device, the prepaid return kit we send you will include instructions on how to prepare and package it.
-
You'll need to close your existing lease by paying the full amount of your remaining lease payments plus applicable taxes. For example, if you upgrade after 21 months on a 24 month lease, you'll need to pay the three remaining monthly payments plus applicable taxes.
Once you’ve closed your lease, you can select your next device, choose Apple Upgrade as your payment option, and submit a new application at checkout. You’ll also need to return your current device in good working condition once the new one arrives.
-
Yes. If you would like to exit your lease prior to the end of your initial lease term, you’ll need to pay the full amount of your remaining lease payments plus applicable taxes. For example, if you end your lease after 21 months on a 24 month lease, you'll need to pay three remaining monthly payments plus applicable taxes. You’ll also need to return the device in good working condition.
If you prefer to keep the device, you can also buy it outright through your Klarna account. You’ll be charged the list price of the device at the time when the lease was signed, minus the sum of lease payments you've already made and any remaining trade-in credits plus applicable taxes. For example, if the list price of the device at lease signing is $1,000 and you’ve already made $800 in lease payments, you would pay $200 plus applicable taxes to purchase the device.
-
No. As long as you make all of your payments, any accessories you financed through Klarna are yours to keep.
-
At the end of your lease, you can do one of the following:
- Upgrade and return your current device
Footnote ◊ - Leave the program and return your current device
Footnote ◊ - Buy the device outright with a one-time payment from your Klarna account
Please note that for each option, applicable taxes apply.
If you don’t take any of these actions, your lease will be extended month-to-month for up to six months after the end of your initial lease term. During this time, you’ll be charged your monthly payment until you take action. If a trade-in credit was applied to your lease at the time of enrollment, your payments will also increase during this six-month period because the credit is applied only to your initial lease term. If you choose to take no action at the end of the six-month period, Klarna will charge you the full price of the device at lease signing less the sum of lease payments you've already made plus applicable taxes to purchase the device outright.
- Upgrade and return your current device
-
You’ll continue to be charged monthly for your original lease until we receive your returned device. Any amount you pay while your device is in transit will be refunded to you by Klarna.
-
Upgrade
There is no additional cost to upgrade at the end of your term. If you upgrade before the end of your term, you will pay the full amount of your remaining lease payments plus applicable taxes. For example, if you upgrade after 21 months on a 24 month lease, you'll pay the remaining three monthly payments plus applicable taxes. When you upgrade, you must return your device in good working condition.
